Police spokeswomen:

A suspect (17) was arrested last night in a public park in Beit Shemesh after violently resisting police enforcement and attempting to pull out a Japanese knife.

Police officers who arrived at a public park on HaGefen Street in Beit Shemesh last night to enforce coronavirus regulations and prevent alcohol consumption in public places noticed a number of young people consuming alcohol there and asked to check them. An investigation conducted by the police system revealed that the minor was supposed to be in isolation, and in addition, at this point the young people present at the scene began to get angry and use foul language towards the police officers.

After the suspect realized that the police intended to enforce against him and his friends for violating the Corona regulations, he ran towards his bike and tried to open the carrying compartment mounted on the handlebars where a Japanese knife was placed. The suspect was arrested while resisting this and his friend (19), who was present at the scene and constantly tried to interfere with the police in carrying out their mission by threatening them, was also arrested and they were taken for questioning, at the end of which the minor was imprisoned and today the police will request to extend his detention.
