רד העשיר מהעגלה וחיפש מישהו שיוכל להיעזר בו. הוא ראה מרחוק עגלה מתקרבת, ככל שהתקרבה ראה שזו עגלה פשוטה הרתומה לשני סוסים זקנים. העגלה עברה לידו כשהיא עוברת בקלילות את ביצת הבוץ. העשיר רדף אחרי העגלה עד שנעצרה ושאל את בעל העגלה: "הסבר נא לי, איך הצליחו סוסיך הזקנים לעבור את הביצה הזו ואילו סוסי החזקים לא?" ההמשך בפנים:
