One of the controversial issues is the approval of a synagogue in an apartment building in the Bar Ilan neighborhood. The Likud faction and the Degel faction, between which we have seen cooperation in the last two months, apparently cannot cooperate this time, at least outwardly. The Likud wants it not to pass, while the Degel faction wants it to pass.

A not-so-simple plenum in which the mayor will have to vote with the Likud and Agudat Yisrael with Degel, against the mayor and the Likud. Will the new connections between the Likud and Degel change direction as a result? And will the old, new connection between the Likud and Agudat Yisrael help either side?

Or does the Likud also understand that the collaborations ultimately do not stand the test of results and that the Haredi majority in the council determines?

Either way, the headaches of the new chief of staff, Nati Gabbay, are relentless, and this month the question of Bar Ilan's extraordinary approval in the Supreme Committee will be a test for him. Will he be able to organize a majority for the mayor so that it doesn't pass?

The 'Beit Shemesh News' reporter will continue to follow and update.
