The elections to and within the local authorities in the city of Beit Shemesh were supposed to take place about a month ago on October 31, but due to the war that broke out, they were postponed.

As a reminder, the Knesset approved the postponement of the elections by three months to the date of January 30, 2024, if there is an option to postpone it by another month.

Despite getting used to the routine of the war, which seems far from over, the date of postponing the elections is only for another two months and now the Ministry of the Interior is examining the possibility of postponing the additional month to set the date of the elections on 27.2.24 YAH Adar A.

The purpose of the postponement, in addition to the many recruited into the reserves, is to try to maintain equality in the election system - while there are candidates who have completely frozen the campaign, there are those who have received an extension in their term of office and are now making use of the municipality's resources at times while cynically exploiting the war for another round of PR in preparation for the elections.
